Once again Wayland Chamber is proud to have sponsored this years’ Watton Carnival with a donation of £500.

This years event took place on Sunday 3rd September with the theme “Enchanted” giving a very colourful feel to the parade and the stalls lining the high street. The event was a huge success drawing in hundreds of people to the town to enjoy stalls, rides, food and entertainment all along the High Street.

The event begun, as in previous years, with an open air morning service led by Watton Pentecostal Church, after which town mayor Stan Hebborn officially opened the Carnival.

This was followed by a vibrant procession along the High Street led by The Phoenix Pipe and durms behind which came the carnival Prince and Princess and the rest of the parade.

Many of our local Chamber businesses took part in the event – especially those in the High Street. The recently opened kings Arms and one of our newest members threw themselves into the Enchanted theme with staff dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland.

“What a fabulous day had by all at the Watton Carnival, we particularly enjoyed dressing up and taking part for our first carnival at the King’s, a brilliant way for us to celebrate 6 months of being open! Thank you to everyone who supported the event and well done to the carnival committee for organising the day so well!”

A date has already been set for next year’s Carnival of Sunday 16th September.

“The Carnival is a great way for all organisations in our community to come together and offers a fun opportunity for many of our local businesses to get involved in the town. We look forward to supporting the event again next year” said Chamber Chair, Debbie Harris.
