Local photographer Matt Wells has been out and about in Watton since lock down undertaking photo stories about some of our local businesses. he has kindly given us permission to repost on our channels! First up Adcocks!

“Adcocks originated in 1912, when the Great Grandfather of Paul , Mark & Chris, Ernest Adcock opened his shop as a jeweller and watchmaker. The original shop was at 30 High Street, currently Corals. When Watton Pharmacy moved across the High Street to their new premises, (now Boots) in the early 1980’s Adcocks were able to purchase the shop and ‘spread their wings!

The business has seen many changes over the years, not least in technology that has evolved over the years in the electrical market.Adcock’s now stock a wide range of built in and freestanding domestic appliances, small appliances and of course tv and audio. First time visitors are very often surprised at the size of the store and the range we carry, as you can’t see it all from the High Street.

It’s been described as the ‘Tardis’ many times! To ensure we’re able to offer competitive pricing, we’re a member of the Euronics buying group. Membership gives us top brands at great pricing. And whilst being competitive these days is essential, we believe it’s our attention to customer service that has kept us in business in Watton for over 100 years.

The business has been here for the community through 2 World Wars, numerous other economic ‘ups and downs’ and more recently we were still delivering and installing through the ‘lockdown’ period. So as we say, we’re not just a shop, but part of the community.”

Great business. we had them supply our washing machine even though we moved to ELY. Nothing is too much trouble.
